Publication #1 - Produced Gas Venting and Flaring in Texas: An Operator’s Guide
There is a misconception that oil and gas operators are allowed to vent or flare produced gas indefinitely and with very little oversight here in the Lone Star State. In fact, there are two state regulatory agencies that oversee venting and flaring in Texas. The Railroad Commission of Texas and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality have flaring regulations, permitting, and reporting requirements. This "Green Paper" discusses those regulatory requirements and provides an operator's guide of what to do if venting or flaring is required.
